Dealing with heel pain can be particularly painful, especially first thing in the morning! Leaving it too long can be detrimental to the resolution of your pain and here is why.
If you currently have plantar fasciitis or have had plantar fasciitis before, then you know exactly why this injury can be so painful and debilitating.
Waking up with excruciating pain in your first-steps out of bed, while trying to get through a long work-day is not sustainable.
If you haven’t already solved your heel pain, here is why you need to as soon as possible.
This graph below shows the complex stages of healing our tendons go through.
What you need to know from this image is that healing occurs in stages and for some it can take up to a year before complete healing has occurred.
Now if you are in pain, and you have put things off, then you will risk extending the timeframe of your healing cycle.
It is extremely important that if you do have heel pain, that you attend to it within the first 3 months. Leaving it for longer than 3 months without treatment, may significantly increase the time it takes for your body to repair itself.
The longer you put things off, the longer your cycle will be.

Hi Som, you are close to our clinic! If you haven’t been assessed by a podiatrist for your heel pain then I would highly recommend you give us a call. Our number is (03) 9711 7562. This is a very common pain that we see all the time at the clinic. Hope to see you soon.
Can I claim medicare for treatment with you.
Hi John, you can only claim Medicare if you’re eligible for the Chronic Disease Management plan. This is something that your GP can help set up. This allows you to claim 5 visits to see a Podiatrist. You can read more about this funding at this link https://www.thefootcareclinic.com.au/medicare-rebate-can-i-get-a-medicare-rebate-for-podiatry-and-how-does-it-work/
