Foot Pain

Typically we will see you when things have reached a point where foot pains and injuries need to be treated – so you can regain your freedom of movement and keep doing the things you love doing.
Feet are the first point of contact between your body and the ground. They undergo a lot of wear and tear in a lifetime and, as such, can present a variety of problems.
Please read further to see what sort of problems you may be experiencing or are worried about, and possible treatments we can provide.

Orthotic Therapy

Foot orthoses are shoe inserts designed to support, align, or improve the function of the foot. They are also often commonly referred to as ‘orthotics’. Orthoses fit comfortably inside your shoes. There are many different kinds of orthoses. The orthoses recommended by your podiatrist are prescription devices, custom – made to suit your individual needs and biomechanics (the way your body moves). People of all ages with a variety of foot or lower leg problems wear orthoses.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a progressive treatment option used to help with chronic conditions which affect all parts of the body.
Radial shockwaves are high-energy acoustic waves passed on from a hand-piece held against the skin and dissipated outwards to painful spots into the underlying tissues.
The energy promotes regeneration and reparative processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissue.

Running, Retraining & Rehab

At The Footcare Clinic, our Podiatrists are runners themselves and have a special interest in running mechanics. As podiatrists, we will assess your running technique using video analysis. This technology allows us to identify the specific factors which will help to settle your current injury, reduce the risk of future injury and improve your efficiency – as part of reducing fatigue and improving speed.

Foot Mobilisation Techniques

Foot Mobilisation Therapy (FMT) is a ‘hands on’ therapy utilising unique mobilisation and manipulation techniques to treat many biomechanical and foot alignment issues, targeting stiff joints. These malalignments can often be the underlying cause of foot and leg pain.

Sports Injuries

The podiatrists at The Footcare Clinic are trained to treat all kinds of Sports injuries. Whether it is an acute injury, an injury that is recurring, or an injury that occurred many seasons ago that never seems to go away, you can trust us to get you back on your feet again.

Dry Needling

Dry needling has been around for centuries. It is a form of treatment that uses a “dry” sterile needle, one without medication or injection, inserted through the skin into areas of overworked muscle, known as trigger points. Reducing the tightness in these trigger points often reduces pain and restores proper soft tissue function.

Diabetes Foot Care

Most foot problems in people who have diabetes occur when injuries – and often infections – go unnoticed and untreated, due to a loss of feeling in the extremities through nerve damage, or when healing is delayed due to poor circulation.

Foot & Nail Problems

We enjoy being able to help with all of your skin and nail concerns. We take pride in taking the time to care for your skin and nails so that they stay strong and resilient, helping to keep you active, healthy and happy.

Nail Surgery

Nail surgery is a common and effective treatment for painful ingrown toenails that are not resolving with conservative care. This may be suggested if the problem is recurring regularly, causing ongoing pain or if the nail edge keeps becoming infected.

KeryFlex Nail Restoration

KeryFlex Nail Restoration is a procedure performed by a podiatrist to create a new toenail if the original nail is damaged or not aesthetically pleasing. The process of toenail reconstruction involves the application of layers of a special gel (made from medical grade resin) to the damaged nail/portion of the nail bed, onto which UV light is focused in order to harden the gel.

Children’s Feet

We commonly see children withdrawing from day-to-day activity and exercise because of sore, tired or painful feet and legs.

We work as part of the health care team, helping to assess and diagnose conditions that affect children’s feet and legs. We then address the reasons as to why the condition is present, guiding the young patient back to their normal activities that they enjoy!

Footwear Advice

The Podiatrists at The Footcare Clinic have each spent considerable time either working or volunteering at local shoe stores in order to stay up to date with latest shoe trends. We know the importance of footwear and how it greatly affects foot health!

Nail Bracing

Toenail Bracing is a treatment designed to improve the toenail shape and prevent the recurrence of painful ingrown or involuted toenails. Similar to the bracing of teeth used in orthodontics, toenail bracing aims to permanently change the position of the nail for better cosmetic appearance and permanent pain relief. The Footcare Clinic is one of only a small number of clinics in Australia that offer this unique service.
